As we edge closer to the expected launch period for the Oculus Quest, the hype train has to visit at a few stops first. GDC (Game Developers Conference) is one of those stops at which Oculus will be showcasing their standalone VR platform headset to developers and various attendees.
A pre-event invite has been sent out to various press, inviting them to a press-only demo event where they will feature a number of new and upcoming Rift and Oculus Quest titles as well as some ‘not-yet-announced’ demos.
With less than half of the Oculus Quest launch titles known about, it’s long overdue that we begin to fill in some missing pieces that will complete the expected 50 launch titles coming to the Oculus Quest.
Let’s hope we get some confirmation of some much-expected ports from the Rift Library, including Rec Room and Beat Saber. It’s not all about ports of eight to twelve-month games though, I would love to see some new, possibly exclusive, Oculus Quest titles that will show off the platform and answer any questions or doubts as to the abilities of the standalone VR platform.
Press attending this event on Monday, March 18th will be embargoed until Wednesday, March 20th before they are allowed to share their views of what they had played and what they thought about each playable demo at the event. So bookmark your calendar, possibly even sooner, if there are any exclusive reports from certain main-stream press during the March 20th press event.
