With just a few days until the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, Oculus has started turning the marketing wheels to raise awareness of their new next-generation standalone headset to anyone that doesn’t have it on their radar.
This first, likely of many, promotion videos for the Oculus Quest 2 targets the regular flat-screen gamer. To the music track of “Galvanize” by The Chemical Brothers, the promotional video selects the lyric “my finger is on the button” and “push the button”, which is used to make the point against conventional gamers having to press gaming mice, controller and keyboard buttons to interact with their games.
The promotional video continues with the message ‘It’s time to break free’, followed by a girl putting on the Quest 2 headset and entering into VR, the video ends with “Play for real”. Sadly they didn’t show off VR gameplay of the headset in this video to really convey the message further, but maybe this was a piece of a bigger video still to follow in the coming days.
Either way, it’s good to see Oculus put more behind the Quest 2 launch and I hope this and more trailers urge the unexpected to jump into VR.
