Rovio Entertainment and Resolution Games have revealed their next Angry Birds title will be coming to all major VR platforms, early next year. So this begs the question…

Could this mean that we will see the little green pigs coming to Oculus Quest at launch?

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs will be the latest game from the billion game selling franchise. It has been said to be releasing on “all major VR platforms” as early as next year – coincidentally around the same time as the release of the Oculus Quest.

Created by Resolution Games, who also developed the Magic Leap experience – Angry Birds FPS: First Person Slingshot (shown below), a game that has players throwing various Angry Birds at a stack of pig-laden tower structures, all in an AR world. I think you can expect a similar experience in Isle of Pigs, albeit in a VR world, full of colourful animated charm that we’ve all come accustomed to in all Angry Birds titles, as well as in its animated movies.

Exact gameplay has not been revealed, but the title and brief artwork suggest level-based islands that the player will be able to progress through, each island could hold structures for various levels or be a level in itself that players have to remove the little green pigs from.

Being VR it will definitely not be a flat 2D experience, and if Angry Birds FPS is anything to go by, it will likely take a huge slice out of this game’s gameplay mechanics to cut down development time and be able to release the game as early as next year.

Could this be a killer title for the Oculus Quest at launch, discuss in the comments below.

As soon as I hear more about the game’s confirmation on the Oculus Quest, I will let you know. My fingers are trotters are crossed!
