Beat Saber has been the crown jewel in VR games for many of us. But it’s music options can get a bit tiresome if you don’t plan on buying its premium DLC beat maps or opt mod the game to upload your own.
For a title that permanently sits at the top of the chart, reaching Double-Platinum status (selling 2 million copies and not including its 10-million DLC sales), the money it must be generating is pretty high, so at times it is a good gesture to breathe new life into the game by offering free new maps every now and then.
Sadly, this hasn’t been as regular as I’d hoped, as its developers lean towards supplying commercial music tracks over its own. With artists and labels requiring a licence fee, there is no doubt why these premium packs come at an extra price.
Next week, you will be able to play some new, and free, beat maps in Beat Saber. Oculus has confirmed that there will be 46 new beat maps coming in its next update, that will span across 18 new music tracks with some offering new 90°, 180° and 360° beat maps.
There will also be updates to existing tracks, offering 360° and one saber beat maps for them. This alone will help bring a fresh feel to some of your favourite tracks in the game. Check out below the line-up:
